Clara Newton married Daniel Long in Tuscarawas County (southeastern Ohio) around 1886 (when she was 20 and he was 54) and had a child (Ray Newton Long, b 1887). Daniel died in 1893 (when he was 61 and she was 27). In 1900 she still living in Tuscarawas County with her son Ray and stepson George (who was working as a coal miner), a few doors down from John Lash, brother of Eliza Lash, Daniel's first wife.
Clara married Jesse (Jack) L Orwig in 1903 (she was 36 and he was 42). Jesse had also had a previous marriage, by which he had a son Jesse Orwig (b 1890). In 1906 Clara and Jesse Sr had a child Robert E Orwig. The 1910 census shows them living in Toledo Ohio (northwestern Ohio) with Jesse Sr working as a dock builder and Jesse Jr as a moulder in a factory. In 1920 they were in Wood County Ohio (southwestern Ohio) with Jesse Sr working as a moulder for an implement company. In 1930 Jesse Sr had an illegible occupation and Ray was working as a bookkeeper for a machine shop. Clara is buried in Bowling Green, Wood County, Ohio.
