My family reports that the earliest known Lowry was a Samuel Lowry, born around 1790, died in 1839, who was a successful woolen merchent. He helped bring many of his relatives from Ireland over to Canada. I don't know how he fits in; perhaps an uncle of Robert.

R. W. Lodge says that Robert's father was James, and James was alive (still in Ireland, I think) at the time of Robert's death.

R. W. Lodge has Robert Lowry's bible, purchased in Downpatrick, Ireland, on February 16, 1827.
